Hip Hop is a unique and popular dance style. In class, we teach students hip hop fundamentals and have fun creating sassy and expressive dances. Hip Hop is the most popular genre among young students. Students focus on learning how to move their body in a high energy environment.
Contemporary dance uses unique movements of the body to create expressive dance pieces, involving elements from jazz, lyrical and ballet. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, focusing on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. Contemporary dance can be performed to many styles of music, ranging from modern up beat songs, to "strange" dark songs that tell a story. This style of dance is very creative and uses body movements unlike any other genre of dance. Dance classes involve teaching students to move their body in technical yet unique ways, whilst having fun at the same time.
Jazz is a high energy class in which students learn stage presence and strong jazz technique. In jazz dance classes, we focus on turns, leaps and kicks and pull together these skills to create powerful yet fun routines.
Classical Ballet provides our students with the foundations of dance, for strong and safe dance technique. In class we focus on developing our students skills in the areas of core, stability and strength all over the body, as well as teaching classical ballet technique. This dance class is ideal for students wishing to develop an all round technique.
Tap is a classic genre of dance and evolving in this new age. In class we teach our students both classical and modern tap technique and fuse the two together to create technical, yet modern routines. Tap dance classes include a series of technical beats/sounds with the students feet, developing creativity whilst having fun at the same time.
Acrobatics is a very popular and fun class that focuses on skill work which can be highlighted in performance pieces. In class we teach students how to safely execute acrobatics skills using proper technique. We highly recommend engaging in our Strength and Technique Class in combination with our Acrobatics class, in order to build up the strength that is necessary for performing advanced acrobatics tricks. We use carpet foam mats and air spring tumble mats to ensure students do not get hurt during training. This class is beneficial to every student's well being and helps students improve in all other dance styles.
Lyrical, also known as slow jazz, is a popular modern style of dance. Lyrical dance classes fuse ballet and jazz together to create a unique style of dance, that focuses on expression of the body in a technical movements. In class we focus on pulling skills from jazz and ballet to create unique, yet beautiful performance pieces.
Musical theatre is our most popular genre of dance. Musical theatre dance classes are a fun and energetic style of dance, that fuses acting and singing with dance. In class, we focus on stage presence in combination with dance technique to produce fun and entertaining routines. Students love to act out their favourite musicals, and be able to dance along at the same time!
Strength, technique and conditioning is a fundamental component of all aspects of dance, to be able to execute, perform and control dance skills at a safe level. We focus on creating an all-round strong dancer, focusing on strength in the students legs, core, arms, back and ankles, giving them not only a stronger physique, but highly developed technique as well. This class is an essential prerequisite for students wishing to engage in our Acrobatics class, for the safe execution of advanced acrobatics tricks. This class also helps improve students in our Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz classes.
Pilates is a method of exercise involving flexibility, muscular strength & endurance movements. The aim of pilates is to improve your postural alignment, core strength, flexibility, & balance with our qualified pilates instructor.
This class is an extension of the Classical Ballet class. Students use knowledge and technique learnt in Classical Ballet to dance en pointe. Pointe students need to be over 12 years of age, and have strong Classical Ballet technique.
This class is for students who wish to dance competitively, competing in troupe dances and solo dances. Students will dance up to 3 days a week and undergo more precise dance technique and strength training.
